Bat houses can attract bats, but wasps can also move in and force bats out. Sometimes they even kill them. There is a simple way to deter wasps from bat houses though. Just paint the bat houses inside and outside white! Wasps do not like the color white and avoid it, so they won't build a nest there. Bats don't really care about the paint because they primarily use echolocation. Use low VOC paint so it doesn’t get hurt by volatile chemicals, have a clear place for the bat to hang inside the bat house, make it large enough to comfortably fit local bats, put the bat house in an area that has 8-12 hours of sunlight, and DO NOT USE ANTI-WASP POISON. There are many sources on how to make a bat house but this one from bat conservation is a good one. The only edit is to paint all of it white in warm areas. In areas that freeze only paint the landing platform.
The Comparisons of a Book and it's Movie Adaptation
We read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" and watched its movie adaptation. I will be discussing the differences and similarities between the experiences of reading a book and watching a movie, as well as the decisions people make when adapting a book to a movie. Books use text to convey the story. They use imagery and rely on your imagination to put the world together and thus they are more open to interpretation. They can convey thoughts by telling you what characters are thinking directly and can switch between multiple points of view. Movies use images and dialog to convey the story. They are more information-dense because an image conveys detail much quicker than words do. They are someone else’s interpretation of the source material, meaning that they are less open to interpretation. Movies have a more fixed point of view (PoV) because the camera can’t show multiple PoVs at once. They can’t directly show thoughts without breaking the suspension of disbelie...
The wizarding world of Harry Potter is a large and whimsical place created by J. K. Rowling. It has inspired movies, theories, fan art, and even theme parks. But for this paper I will be focusing on the differences between the first book and the first movie: The Philosophers Stone (or Sorcerer's Stone for American readers). The book follows Harry Potter, an orphan living with his cruel uncle Vernon and family. On his eleventh birthday to attend Hogwarts, school of witchcraft and wizardry. While there he makes friends with Ron and Hermione, and enemies of Draco Malfoy and Professor Snape while uncovering the mystery of the philosopher's stone. The most glaring difference is that in the movie they skip through a large part of the final scene where Hermione proves that her intellect is important. One of the smaller details is that in the book Harry's eyes are green but in the movies his eyes are blue. When Hagrid comes to take Harry to Hogwart...
